Bedside Manners is soon approaching its fifth year. This has prompted me to reflect on what we’ve achieved so far and to look to the future. One aspect of that reflection has been on branding. As a small business with specialised expertise, we have worked mostly with existing networks. But we realised we needed to work on our branding to help generate interest from and engagement with a new audience. With our recent addition of design student Evie White as an employee, we’ve now developed new branding, with a refreshed logo and colours that better reflect who we are. Check out our new branding on our social media pages on LinkedIn and Instagram. We’ll also continue to update our website in the coming weeks to help with navigation. We love feedback - check out our almost disaster during this process that was saved by early feedback - so please get in touch with your thoughts on what else might need to be updated.
Recommendation of the month
I was thrilled to come across some homegrown conversation analytic research that has been used to identify conversational strategies for initiating discussions of fear of cancer recurrence in healthcare consultations. The authors found two ways that these discussions can be initiated, both of which can open space to discuss fear of cancer recurrence and provide support for what is often an unmet patient concern. This is some really important work and I highly recommend you check it out to discover the details. Examining talk in the real world provides insights into strategies that are actually effective and that can be implemented into practice.
Accreditation
We’re excited to share that the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) has recognised Bedside Manners as a Professional Development provider for teachers. We have more general modules available in a bundle and we’ll be working on more that are specific to education. Get in touch if you’d like to discuss options for coaching or workshops focused on interpersonal communication in the classroom.
We also have CPD accreditation from ACRRM and AMA CPDHome. Doctors from other colleges, such as RACGP, RACS, RACP, ACEM, as well as physiotherapists, podiatrists, and dentists have also taken our online modules. Check them out today!
